These days are fleeting. As I sit here in the quiet stillness of both kids napping and it will soon come to a close. No, not because they're going to soon wake up, but because we will soon enter a new phase of childhood with these cute little kids. Gone will be the days of wiping snot, shoveling food in mouths, changing a poopy diaper while child is attempting to roll. Gone will be the days of pure innocence and raw curiosity. Gone will be the days of multiple hours of naps and 7pm bedtimes. Gone will be the days of a child running and swaggering ALL the way across a playground to greet you with an enormous, tight hug. Gone will be the days of a baby excitedly crawling across the room to tug on your pants so you will pick him up and crying from anticipation and excitement when he first sees you after a day at day-care. Gone will be the days of kissing you like 50 times after you tuck them into bed at night. Gone will be the days of staring longingly into each others' eyes while nursing and eventually both passing out from sheer relaxation. Gone. It'll be gone and we won't get it back. We will have new adventures to take together, but these special baby ones will all be gone before we know it.
So, even though my eldest today is sick, I couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. A special day in the middle of the week where I get these perfect children all to myself to soak up everything that someday I'm going to miss.
