Zayan is amazing. When you have someone as awesome as Summer come into your life, it's hard to imagine there can be something just as good come around again. But, it does! and it's amazing.
Now we have a boy and a girl. Two totally different kids, which we are so fortunate to have. Everyone told us: oh, this'll be a totally different experience. Our reaction was always: duh, they are two different kids. But, it's hard to really prepare for what ways they'll be different. Perhaps that's the beauty of it all.
How are they different?
-Zayan wants to eat all the time!! He wakes up between 1 to 2 hours between feedings wanting to eat again. Summer would eat and eat and eat and then sleep for long periods of time (yay for efficiency!). We are now teaching him to hold off until at least 2 hours, which gets him to eat more and thus sleep a little longer. Last night, he slept for a record 3.5 hours!!
- Zayan is a loud sleeper. He's constantly grunting like an old man! At first we thought something was wrong, but after a trip the doctor and observation that he's really not too bothered to wake up, we figured out that he's just a noisy sleeper. Hopefully, this will improve as he sleeps with 2 very light sleepers.
- Zayan is a snugglebug. He constantly wants to be cuddled and can easily be soothed by a big hug. The problem is when you try to put him down. At 3 weeks, he needs to start getting used to life OFF of mama! :D Although in Summer's first week she enjoyed being held, she never had a problem transitioning to sleeping in a bed. Zayan is still learning to be OK with this now.
- Zayan doesn't quite have the sucking tendencies that Summer did. He isn't committed to a pacifier at all. He kinda likes to play with it in his mouth for a few seconds and then quickly spits it out and gets annoyed if you try to put it back in. Summer was and remains to be a fan of the pacifier. She is going to lose her privileges soon, however.
- Zayan is such a little man! In their first days, the two of them looked almost identical. However, his face is quickly changing to look like such a little man with larger, bolder facial features than his sister. Although Summer looks unique and beautiful, she took many features from her mama. Zayan, appropriately?, has many features like his daddy. Strange how that works out!
At the end of the day, they're both absolutely perfect and I would not change even the littlest thing about either of them. I love each and every little thing, even though they're running circles around me and we're only on week 3!
Maybe I'm partial, but I see a LOT of you in him. Congrats on the new addition. <3
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lira! They're both pretty adorable if I do say so myself, so I'm totally flattered if either of them looks like me.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to YOU on your engagement, also! Have fun with the wedding planning! Love all around! :)
