Maui, Phase #2

Day#3
We have been taking the trip slow, making time for Summer's naps and enjoying naps ourselves or just taking in our surroundings. We went for a quick visit to the Iao Valley State Park where we got a different perspective of the tropics. With jagged mountains and plentiful waterfalls and rivers, the park was beautiful to say the least. We even got to enjoy some tropical rain for the first time on this trip.

We enjoyed our first meal out (fish/chicken tacos) and finished up our day at the beach and the pool. Wow. What a life!

Day #4
After we ruled out our initial plan of driving to the other side of the island to Hana (it's too long and treacherous with a toddler), we decided to make a simple day to the beach. We drove to the south part of Kehei to Kamaole Beach where people were enjoying snorkeling in crystal clear turquoise water, boogie boarding, and playing or laying in the sand. Summer had a blast going from sand to waves all afternoon. She found friends to play with, but she also loved jumping the waves with mommy and daddy. We got so many good pictures of her, but I don't have a card reader for that type of memory card on this laptop, so the pictures will have to wait until we get back.

After her nap after the beach, we went to the pool in her floaty boat. This time, she kept saying, "Bye bye!" meaning she wanted me to push her away so she could float on her own! :( Makes sense since she was the social butterfly of the pool, floating around greeting everyone in their pool chairs. She is quite the charmer. What a wonderful kid she is. How did we get this lucky? Meanwhile, Daddy prepared a nice BBQ chicken dinner with grilled baked potatoes and corn. After we finished, Summer made her final plea to go back to the beach. At least she could rest assured we'd be going back tomorrow.
